Centurion lies between Pretoria and Johannesburg and has been part of the City of Tshwane since 2000. It was earlier known as Verwoerdburg, and before that as Lyttelton, and some older residents still use the old names.
The town sits at the interchange of the N1 and N14, which makes it a natural base for firms that serve both cities. Office parks along the highways mean many customers search during the working day, close to where they are.
Waterkloof and Swartkop air force bases are nearby, and the South African Air Force Museum at Swartkop draws visitors.
SuperSport Park is one of the country's main cricket grounds and has hosted several Boxing Day Tests. Match days bring crowds that look for food and parking nearby.
Irene, home of Irene Farms, is one of the older parts of the area. Residents type Irene or Lyttelton, so naming those suburbs and your estates on Google brings in nearby callers.
Centurion is home to well over 200,000 people. A motorway crosses its eastern side towards Kempton Park, and the Hennops River runs through the heart of the area.
SuperSport Park has hosted the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the 2007 World Twenty20, the 2009 IPL and the 2009 Champions Trophy. Irene Farms and SuperSport Park are the main tourist attractions.
The Irene Concentration Camp was set up in 1901 on the farm Doornkloof during the Second Boer War, and more than 1,200 people died there. The Irene Camp Cemetery is preserved, with 576 original hand carved slate stones.
Summers on the Highveld bring late afternoon thunderstorms and the odd hailstorm, while winters are dry and sunny. Roofers, panel beaters and gutter firms see bursts of searches after a storm.
Irene was laid out in 1902 as 337 plots on the farm Doornkloof, which Jan Smuts later owned; Smuts House is now a museum. Residents chose the name Centurion in 1995 after Centurion Park cricket stadium, now SuperSport Park, where match days fill nearby pubs and parking.
SA History Online records that Lyttelton Township was marked out on the farm Droogegrond in 1904, and that city council status came in 1964 when Doornkloof, Irene and Lyttelton combined. Visit Gauteng adds that Centurion is home to the South African Mint Company and sits where the N1 meets the N14.
Visit Gauteng also points visitors to the dancing fountains in the lake at Centurion Mall, and people stopping there search for dinner, parking and coin collecting gifts after a visit to the Mint's Coin World.
Examples of real kinds of searches, and what a strong profile shows for them. These are examples, not ranking claims.
“sports bar Centurion”
Fans heading to SuperSport Park look for food and parking near the ground on match days.
“vet Irene”
Pet owners in Irene and Doornkloof compare practices by how vets answer worried owners.
“accountant Centurion”
Firms in office parks near the Hennops River want a professional reply style.
“roofer Centurion”
After Highveld hailstorms, homeowners want a roofer who answers quickly and quotes clearly.
Cricket fixtures at SuperSport Park, office park weekdays and summer storms shape Centurion trade, with Irene Farms drawing weekend visitors.

No one can honestly guarantee a Google ranking. Google says local results mainly depend on relevance, distance and prominence. We work on the parts you control: an accurate, active profile and steady, specific replies to your reviews.
