Midrand lies between Johannesburg and Pretoria, about 27 kilometres from one and 30 from the other. It grew from Halfway House, became a municipality in 1981 and joined the Joburg metro in 2000.
The N1 Ben Schoeman highway runs through the area, and office parks line the routes on either side. Many people work here but live elsewhere, so lunch spots, gyms and services compete for the same weekday searches.
Kyalami is known for its racetrack, and the South African Lipizzaners riding academy is in the area. Race meetings and shows fill nearby lodges and eateries.
The UNISA Graduate School of Business Leadership is in Midrand, which brings students and executives who look for meeting places and services close to campus.
Midrand is made up of many suburbs and estates, and residents search by name. Listing Kyalami, Noordwyk or Vorna Valley rather than only Midrand lets a cleaning firm or tutor appear where clients live.
Midrand borders Centurion to the north, Sandton to the south and Thembisa to the east, and it is the most northerly corner of the Joburg metro. Gallagher Estate was long one of the country's best known conference venues.
The Nizamiye Mosque, opened in 2012, is one of the largest mosques in the southern hemisphere. The Mall of Africa in Waterfall City is the largest single phase shopping mall built on the continent, and PwC has its headquarters there.
The Pearson Institute of Higher Education, once Midrand Graduate Institute, opened on 9 May 1990, and a Varsity College campus opened in 2012.
The M39 Allandale Road, M71 New Road and Olifantsfontein Road connect Midrand to the N1, and the N3 meets the N1 at the Buccleuch Interchange just south. Commuters on those routes book tyre and car wash stops in Midrand.
Vodacom has its head office here, alongside many smaller firms. The name still describes suburbs north of the Jukskei River up to the Tshwane border.
Kyalami circuit opened on 4 November 1961 with a 9 Hour race won by John Love and Dawie Gous. It hosted eighteen Formula One Grands Prix between 1967 and 1985, then again in 1992 and 1993, plus World Superbikes. Toby Venter bought it in July 2014, and redevelopment began in May 2015.
Today the track measures 4.522 kilometres, holds FIA Grade 2 status and sits about 1,532 metres above sea level. Race days and motoring events fill nearby hotels, and spectators search for parking, takeaways and accommodation.
Examples of real kinds of searches, and what a strong profile shows for them. These are examples, not ranking claims.
“conference hotel Midrand”
Delegates at Gallagher Estate weigh nearby rooms by comments on shuttles and noise.
“restaurant Waterfall City”
Office workers near Mall of Africa scroll for lunch spots that answer reviewers.
“tutor Midrand”
Parents near Varsity College and Pearson compare tutors by results described in reviews.
“courier Midrand”
Firms between Sandton and Centurion want couriers with clear cut off times.
Expo calendars, office park weekdays and Mall of Africa weekends shape Midrand, with traffic at Buccleuch steering people toward businesses on their route.

No one can honestly guarantee a Google ranking. Google says local results mainly depend on relevance, distance and prominence. We work on the parts you control: an accurate, active profile and steady, specific replies to your reviews.
WhatsApp us your listing link and tell us what is wrong. We look at the profile as it stands and tell you what we would fix first.
