Randburg was once its own municipality and became a region of greater Johannesburg. It lies about 18 kilometres northwest of the Johannesburg CBD, between Sandton to the east and Roodepoort to the west.
MultiChoice has its head office in Randburg, and with it DStv, SuperSport and M-Net. Media and broadcasting work brings suppliers, studios and service firms to the area.
Strijdom Park is known for its motor trade, with dealers, parts shops and workshops close together. Drivers compare them on Google, so reviews and replies often decide who gets the job.
The Randburg CBD declined from the 1990s as business moved to malls and office parks. Many firms now trade from the suburbs, and customers find them by searching rather than walking past a shopfront.
Lanseria Airport is about 15 kilometres from Northriding, in the northern part of Randburg. Travellers and businesses that use it look for services on the way, from car hire to couriers.
Randburg is flanked by Johannesburg to the south, Sandton to the east, Roodepoort westward and the rural areas of Chartwell and Farmall to the north. Its suburbs include Ferndale, Blairgowrie, Bromhof, Boskruin, Cresta, Northriding and Olivedale.
Newzroom Africa, a news channel on DStv, is also based in Randburg. Strijdom Park sits between the N1 Western Bypass and Malibongwe Drive and serves the whole of northern Johannesburg with car sales, repairs and small industry.
Beyers Naude Drive and Malibongwe Drive link Randburg to the N1 Western Bypass. A regional road runs out to Lanseria and Hartbeespoort, and O. R. Tambo is about 32 kilometres to the east.
Lanseria mainly handles general aviation, though FlySafair runs scheduled flights to Cape Town and Durban. Randburg Astroturf hosts field hockey, which brings teams and families into the area.
Robert van Tonder led the committee that pushed for Randburg's founding in the 1950s. Parks include Aldara Park, Bellairs Park and Daniel Brink Park, where weekend walkers start their mornings.
The name Randburg came from a competition and refers to the rand currency, introduced around the time the municipality was established in 1959. Rhema Family Church, founded there by Pastor Ray McCauley, draws a large congregation.
The Johannesburg Development Agency notes that by 1957 Randburg covered Blairgowrie, Bordeaux, Ferndale, Cresta, Robindale and Windsor, that the town council began building a mall in 1976, and that a CBD revitalisation strategy followed in December 1997. Shoppers still search those suburb names first.
Examples of real kinds of searches, and what a strong profile shows for them. These are examples, not ranking claims.
“car dealer Strijdom Park”
Buyers between Malibongwe Drive and the bypass compare dealers by how they respond to complaints.
“restaurant Ferndale”
Diners near Randburg's old centre check menus and recent photos before booking.
“hockey kit Randburg”
Players training at Randburg Astroturf look for gear shops open after practice.
“plumber Northriding”
Homeowners in Northriding and Olivedale type the suburb first, then read replies.
Randburg follows the working week in Strijdom Park and office blocks, while Cresta and Ferndale fill on weekends.

Yes. Blairgowrie, Bromhof, Boskruin, Cresta and Northriding all go on as served places.
Add a clear entrance photo and gate number too, as the park's roads confuse first visitors.
Most of the work happens over WhatsApp, email and calls. If you'd rather meet, Shaun comes to you, anywhere in South Africa. We don't have an office in your city.
No one can honestly guarantee a Google ranking. Google says local results mainly depend on relevance, distance and prominence. We work on the parts you control: an accurate, active profile and steady, specific replies to your reviews.
WhatsApp us your listing link and tell us what is wrong. We look at the profile as it stands and tell you what we would fix first.
Send us your Google listing and we'll take a look.
