Western Cape at a glance

The Western Cape counted 7,433,020 people (Stats SA, Census 2022) at Census 2022. Cape Town is the provincial capital and the country's legislative capital, and the province stretches from the Atlantic seaboard to the winelands, the Overberg and the Garden Route.

About two thirds of the province's people live in the Cape Town metro, which is also the capital. The two largest cities are Cape Town and George, and the other main towns include Stellenbosch, Paarl and Worcester. The province was created in 1994 from part of the old Cape Province.

The province is roughly L shaped, running north up the Atlantic coast and east along the south coast. The Garden Route and the Overberg are popular coastal holiday areas, so a guesthouse in Knysna or a restaurant in Hermanus is often chosen by someone who has never been there and is reading reviews on a phone.

The Cape Winelands is a district of its own. Wine farms, tasting rooms and the restaurants around them are judged on photos, booking details and how they answer a guest who had a slow lunch.

George is the main town on the Garden Route and serves farms and smaller towns along the coast and inland. Trades and medical practices there often cover a wide area, and the profile should say how far they travel.

The Cape Fold Belt mountains run through the province, so many towns sit in valleys between passes. A farm stall or hotel on a mountain road needs a pin on the right turn off, because a wrong one can mean a long way back.

The province is roughly the size of England, and it borders the Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape. Stellenbosch, Paarl and Worcester are each a short drive from Cape Town but have their own customers, so a business there should describe its own town on Google rather than borrow the city's name.

The coastline changes from long sandy bays to steep, rocky stretches, and Cape Town itself grew where fresh water ran off Table Mountain. Today the same geography decides where people go: beaches, passes and viewpoints draw day trips, and the cafés, farm stalls and guesthouses along the way are picked from the map, so clear directions and current photos matter.

The Cape Town page below covers the city in detail, and we work with businesses in every part of the province.

What people in Western Cape search for

Examples of real kinds of searches, and what a strong profile shows for them. These are examples, not ranking claims.

  • “wine tasting Stellenbosch”

Visitors compare photos, prices and whether bookings are needed. Replies that answer a question in a review save a phone call.

  • “guesthouse Knysna”

Guests read the newest reviews and the owner's replies. A calm answer to a complaint about noise shows you care.

  • “vet George”

Pet owners want after hours details and real reviews. The emergency number should be on the profile.

  • “restaurant Hermanus”

Whale season brings visitors who book on the day. Accurate hours and a reply to last week's review help them pick you.

Trading notes for Western Cape

The coast is busiest over December and the Easter weekend, while many winelands and Overberg businesses change hours in the wet winter months. Update your winter hours on Google when they change, not after the first wasted drive.

Questions from Western Cape owners

Do you work with wine farms and guesthouses?

Yes. Tasting rooms, cellars and guest farms all get the same care: answered reviews, correct booking details and fresh photos.

Can you reply in Afrikaans?

We can reply in English, Afrikaans or isiZulu, whichever suits your customers.

Can we meet in person?

Most of the work happens over WhatsApp, email and calls. If you'd rather meet, Shaun comes to you, anywhere in South Africa. We don't have an office in your city.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No one can honestly guarantee a Google ranking. Google says local results mainly depend on relevance, distance and prominence. We work on the parts you control: an accurate, active profile and steady, specific replies to your reviews.
