Questions about the card

Does the Instagram card have a QR code?

Yes. The QR code is printed on the back, so phones without NFC can scan it and open your Instagram profile.

Does it open the Instagram app or the browser?

If the customer has the app, their phone usually opens your Instagram profile there. If not, it opens in the browser.

Can you change it to a different link later?

Yes. Every chip is rewritable and locked with a password, so a stranger can't overwrite it but we can. If your link changes, WhatsApp us on 075 330 9812 and we'll sort it out.

Do I need to give you my login?

No. We only need the link to your Instagram profile.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. iPhone XS and newer read the chip with a tap while the screen is on. Older iPhones (7 to X) need the NFC reader from Control Centre. On Android, NFC needs to be switched on, usually from quick settings. Stands, plates and the Facebook and Instagram cards also carry a printed QR code that any phone camera can scan, so every customer has a way in. The Google cards and Tap Spots are tap only.

How long does delivery take?

Dropped at The Courier Guy within 1 working day of payment and your confirmed link. From there it takes 2 to 3 working days to main centres, up to 5 working days regionally, to a Courier Guy locker or your door, anywhere in South Africa. Delivery is included on orders from R499. Under R499: R65 to a Courier Guy locker or R95 to your door.

Does everything work with both tap and scan?

Stands, plates and the Facebook and Instagram cards, yes: each has an NFC chip for a tap and a printed QR code for a scan (on the back of the Facebook and Instagram cards), so it works on any phone with a camera. The Google cards and the Tap Spot sticker are tap only, with no QR code, so the customer's phone needs NFC switched on.

Can I buy it unprogrammed and set it up myself?

Yes. Pick Unprogrammed under Setup, at the same price. The NFC chip comes blank and there's no printed QR code, so you write your own link to it with an NFC app, and we skip the link step at checkout. Changed your mind? WhatsApp us on 075 330 9812 and we'll set it up at no extra cost.
